Never heard of one, and the only place would probably be at the airport, which there isn't one. I hink the "meat bomber" OP refers to might have been the Vimy that was orginally based at Novato?

Went looking for it a few years ago, long gone.

Check.

#45: Are there actual airframes displayed as part of the Louis A. Turpen Aviation Museum in the Sanfrancisco Airport terminal?
Having been there several times recently, I still say no.

I removed it from the list (this time).

Ouch, this is a shorter list?

Originally there were 56 items. Apparently California is a big state. Also there is much history there.

bdk wrote:
#11: Is there a F-86 or UH-1 displayed at the Long Beach Municipal Airport?

No.

Check.

bdk wrote:
#12: Is there a F-86 displayed in Alhambra?

If you have a location, I'll go take a look.

bluethunder28 wrote:

At one time. No longer there.

bdk wrote:
#15: Does the museum the American Society of Military History Military Museum, in El Monte, have a UH-1 in the collection?

They say they do: http://members.aol.com/tankland/misclst.htm

I must have overlooked that . Thanks.

bdk wrote:
#16: Is there a T-38 displayed at the former Northrop University at Inglewood?

Northop Institute of Technology (now Northrop Rice Aviation Institute of Technology) used to have a T-33 and an F-86D (or L). Never heard they had a T-38. http://www.nrait.edu/company.htm

Noted. I have sent them an email. For now I will leave it on the list.

bdk wrote:
#30: Is there a F-86 displayed in Montclair?

Doubt it. Get me a location and I'll go look.

bluethunder28 wrote:

Not anymore.

In town or at the airport? Get me a location and I'll find out.

If I knew, I wouldn’t be asking. ;-)

bdk wrote:
#46: Is there a F-101 displayed at the John Wayne International Airport (Orange County) in Irvine?

Never heard of or seen it.

Check.

Sante Fe, New Mexico? Not in California.

bluethunder28 wrote:

Santa Fe Springs maybe and no.

You two have confirmed my suspicions.

#32: Where exactly in Camarillo is Airliners of America located?

http://www.museumsusa.org/museums/info/1153229

Unfortunately the address given on that page is a residential section. This is probably just an office. What I would like to have is the location of the hangar (assuming they have one).

bluethunder28 wrote:
#49: Is the map reference for the Santa Maria Museum of Flight correct?

It's just south of the pointer.

How about now?

bluethunder28 wrote:
#37: Is there a F-86 displayed in Inyokern? There may be one displayed at a “Budd McGhee Air Park”. Can you confirm?

http://www.amarcexperience.com/AMARCArticleF86Sabre.asp

It appears that 5026 left China Lake in the late 1990s to the Budd McGhee Air Park collection in nearby Inyokern. The USAFM acquired the F-86 and it was moved to Wright Patterson AFB, from here it was delivered to AMARC. 5035 left China Lake and eventually ended up at the Southern Museum of Flight, Birmingham, AL. The main fuselage was restored to display condition using the tail from another F-86F. It's original tail is what is now at AMARC.

I’ll note there is no longer one there.

The remaining questionables are now listed below. The list originally had 56 items. We are now down to 34. Can it be made shorter? Feel free to post contributions here, you you can also send them to me via…

Haven't seen an A-4 in Twentynine Palms - is it supposed to be on the Marine Corps base or in town? In the meantime, I found this creatively marked BD-5 at the Joshua Tree Airport:

Not to be confused with the one put up by the EAA at the French Valley Airport in Murrieta!

Can't tell you. There is also the possibility there isn't one or it was move, etc.

Google isn't showing a Joshua Tree Airport. Could you give me directions or coordinates?

Found it! Since you seem familiar with the French Valley Airport, can you tell me which hanger belongs to the Wings and Rotors Museum?

On Sunfair Road about one mile north of Highway 62; coordinates are 34 9'14.50" N, 116 14'51.33" W.

Actually I'm not familiar with it; I found it while Googling for BD-5 images. So I called French Valley Aviation at the airport and the operator said it was in Hangar 2-D. Hope this helps! Here's their local EAA chapter:

http://www.eaa1279.org/

(I know somebody who works at the Marine Corps base and I'll ask him if he's seen an A-4 there. I haven't seen one in town, but I usually just go through the center of town on Adobe Road to get to the drive-in theater.)
