I think that Tyler means that he will not be coming to Thunder this weekend on the C-123.

Sorry, Tyler - know you would love to be there.

Looking forward to seeing the Thunder Pig arrival on Friday!

Lol, sorry for the scare everyone.
I was on my ipad and apparantly, one very important letter was missed. Indeed, I wont be at the show with the plane...

Though the plane was stranded in Buffalo for three or four days during the week of the 23rd-26th of July. We did a movie shoot in Montreal and upon landing at Buffalo to pass customs on our way home, our #1 Engine's fuel boost pump failed, due to sabatoge, and we had to have one shipped in from Alaska. We finally got it back on the 26th.

If you are wondering what sabatoge occured... Someone poured yellow paint into the temporary fuel storage tank we had fuel in when during a repair on the fuel bladder. We caught it just as the paint just started to enter the aircraft's fuel bladder as we were loading it back onto the plane, so not a lot made it into the bladder. We had to off loaded the fuel once more and we cleaned the inside of the bladder thoroughly, but apparantly, a very small trace of paint was found in the boost pump upon inspection in Buffalo.

We slipped up and did not inspect the tank prior to pouring it back into the aircraft as it was in a location which we did not think it would be bothered. Nor was the storage tank locked or sealed to know if it was tampered with. Luckily Insurance covered the loss of the 300 gallons of fuel, minus the deductible. However, the pump did not fail for some time.

While the weather is perfect here that Friday and the show dates, remember we do have a front going through Thursday. Now I don't want to be a Debbie Downer, but when a Front goes through Detroit area on Thursday and we have sunny skies Arrivals day, areas east and south of here are dealing with storms - this could cause problems with planes arriving from East coast and down south like in years past. 2006 and 2008 are good examples of that when a front was going through.

Far as weather, I believe it when I see it.
Weekend before last was slated to be all sunny and warm so I went to my camper with family, turned out wet, cold and miserable 90% of the time. Couldn't even light a fire at night as all the wood was soaked, that was Saturday, Sunday was slated to be warm with not a cloud in the shy, turned out it drizzled constant most of the day, didn't even see the sun until after 4 pm.
These guys with doppler and radar tracking aren't nearly as accurate as the old school guys when I was a kid, when they said it would rain it rained, when they said it would be sunny it was. I'm going rain or shine but I have learned not to get my hopes up, especially for long range forecasts.

Where were you camping last weekend? Weather was good in Detroit area as I did some spotting at DTW on Saturday. I am supposed to fly in the Yankee lady tomorrow night but they are forecasting strong storms. Weather is forecasted to be good here after Wednesday but fronts move to the south and the east. 2006 and 2008 the front went through the day before, while we had good weather for arrivals a lot of stuff couldn't come from the east like several Skyraiders and Spitfires in 2006. A few planes cancelled out in 2008 too like a couple P-47s and other planes due to the same situation. Since it is going through Wednesday, hopefully it will be off the coast by Friday afternoon so maybe we could still get some late arrivals from the east without problems.

I was in Milford, about 40 miles outside of Detroit. I was talking to some friends in the Detroit area that weekend while I was there and they said indeed, weather was pretty clear there, but it was non stop grey and wetness where I was at.
The general forecast for south east lower MI was clear, had I known it would have been so miserable I would not have gone. Forecast looks great for this weekend, I'm hoping thats the case.

Loading has already begun on the C-123. Preflight inspections starting tomorrow. Hopefully Wx will not be an issue on Friday for us leaving, though they are predicting isolated T-Storms here.

Whoaaa... SABOTAGE! That's shocking, not to mention contemptible beyond words. The results could have been catastrophic in so many ways. Is there any idea what sort of mindless bottom feeder did this?

My plans are Ecorse by the runway FRI, inside show SAT, Ecorse again SUN, will have a sun tent and a blue Ram [Fri at least, Sun will probably go with an uncle], scanners blazing. Anyone feels like stopping by and shooting the @$%& feel free, looking forward to the show.
