This Fury (image from 1980) is tentatively identified as ISS23 Magnificent Obsession. But this is primarily from the 253 number. Can anybody confirm or deny this.

Hi Scott--

This pic's too long ago for an ISS...and besides, look how far back the canopy is. This is a T.20, probably ex-DLB (West German paramilitary target tug). I'm fairly sure this is the one Dr. Bill Harrison owned for a time in the seventies, which was finished in Korean War RN FB.11 livery. I forget, though, what the reg was on that one...??

Anyway, nice pic. Five blades swingin' the right direction. Aaaaahhhhhh...

When looking closely at the photo you can see that it is a two-seater, and from this thread over on Flypast you can see I also asked about this plane. From studying the photos here and there I'd say it is the same a/c, VX281 G-BCOW.

Having hunted down some details on the Harrison T.20, I concur...this is a T.20, but not Dr Harrison's. (Dr.H's bird was ex-D-COCO/VZ350 "Wasa Hooker"; she crashed in '79 and parts of her were incorporated into the ex-Burmese airframe that became Reno champ "Dreadnought". During Dr Harrison's ownership she was painted very much like the one in this pic.)

Final comment about five blades and "aaaahhhh..." still stands though!

Here for comparison is a shot of G-BCOW at Elstree UK on 5 April 1980.

Pilot and owner is Spencer Flack, passenger is yours truly.

I have the military ID as VX281.

Flown in that one a few times with Dale Clarke. I believe he bought it from John Sandberg though after it was already in the US.
