There wouldn't be a great deal to salvage as 'The Lady..' was a donation parts bin airframe and had everything useable pulled off to keep other WB-29's @ Eilson flying until it was an empty shell. Then it was moved by railroad flatcar to it's present location where it was used as a rescue/emergency egress trainer until the depression it's sitting in filed in with either ground water seepage or rain (although, technically Fairbanks gets less than 11 inches of precipitaton annually so it's considerd to be desert ) made it unuseable and it was left to it's fates. Rain amounts and snow amounts are figured differently I believe the formula is 8 inches of snow equates to 1 inch of rain. And don't forget the 'noseeums' (clouds of gnats) :?

Today I had the opportunity to visit Patrick and see not only Sandbar Mitchell but also different aircraft Legends of Aces are restoring. Very nice place and I would recommend if your in the area plan a visit. Patrick is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his business and welcomed us with a smile and didn't mind spending a few hours sharing the story of how they came to have 2 B-25's. I will definitely make more visits and quite possibly volunteer with the restoration of their planes. Kudos also to Patrick for bringing in students to help them learn aviation maintenance/restoration. I could have spent more time talking airplanes with Patrick but unfortunately reality set in and both he and I had other obligations.
Thanks Patrick. :drink3: :drink3: :drink3:
