I just watched the CAF Tora Flight depart from Cherokee County Airport (KCNI) in north Georgia. Nothing quite like the sound of 8 radials warming up and taking off on a crisp clear morning!! It made me want to pull the P-40 out of the hangar to "defend" the airport :)

Saw them a couple days ago at Warbirds Over Monroe. Nice airshow.

Two C-130's in tight TIGHT formation. Heading north to probably Windsor Locks or Westover.

Over the last several weeks there has been a large helo buzzing through the skys up here.
One day last week I managed to get a few horrible pics of it~

The colors appeared to be those of the Los Angeles County Sherriff's office.
But what on Earth would they be doing way up here?

After a bit of research I now know for fact whose they are~

Rumor has it one of the H-3s is one I wrenched on when I was attached to HS-17 from 1989-1991.
So now I wonder where will those birds go?

Saw a UH-1 a couple of days ago, something that you don't tend to see too often these days.

Their home base is between the B-2 and Space Shuttle hangers on the 'keep moving please' West side of the field.

Do you mean the Lockheed facility behind the fire station, or the *former* B1 plant?

Sorry, Eastish (I guess) side B-1 area, haven't been near Palmdale since about 1985 and that was a 'just passin' thru' on 14.

Yup, I'm guessing they hang out at the Lockheed facility on that side. U2's also seen there.

And, to make a small correction, having worked 'C' and 'D' checks on that operators aircraft in the past, they fly to '6' from '3' and '9' to '2' according to the logbooks, and you can do the time math to figure out that '3' is 45 min from '6' and that's about what you'd need to go block time from Mcarran to Groom Lake. Their old EX FRONTIER -200's were still using original 'hat rack' overhead bins long, long after they'd been banned from commercial -200's   geek strange outfit

The Memphis Belle was buzzing around Pensacola today. A couple of passes over my place. Didn't know ahead of time or I would have been a passenger instead.
