1943 L-3 43-1612

Fri May 11, 2012 10:11 pm

I wanted to share some photos I took today of a L-3 that still had fragments of Pyralin in the window frames along with original cables, seat belts and floor boards. Plane last flew in the 1940s. After surplus the plane was painted at least once maybe twice yellow and blue but some traces of the old OD are still visible in the interior and the fuel tanks.

I KNOW you know the answer to that question...

"Not, it's not for sale- I'm gonna restore it!"

I knew it was either that or,'It's just like the one my boy was flying when he crashed back in '44'-
an untouchable monument.

Don't know the answer to that question, have not had time to fully research it's history yet. I have a pretty good handle on where my O-58A project has been it last flew Oct of 1954 and was put in storage with only 1100 hrs Total Time, but don't have a good history on the "C" yet. The C appears to have been stored within a few years after release from the Army as it still has the pyralin installed. I was going to restore the A first as it is very low time highly documented and only four are still listed on the FAA registry with none flying.

The A model has complete logs back to date purchased from Army but not so on the C. Here is the first page of the first logbook on the A model and bill of sale..
