This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I found this picture and was wondering if anyone here knew more about it or perhaps even been there? Were all the B-29's scrapped, burried or lefted alone with the closing of the war? Not just B-29's though. I noticed the tail of a Liberator sticking out of the pile. Also a couple of other aircraft hulks that appear to be O.D. green. Thanks for any input.

I posted this topic cocurrently on the Pacific Ghosts message board and got this response.
The only things you now can find are the leftovers of scrapping in the 3 dumpsites. Mainly landing gear studs, because all the aluminium was scrapped.

Like I've stated in the past, it would be awesome if one one of these dumps were discovered intact and were excavated.

I'll go out on a limb here and suggest that the upside down B-24 at the bottom of the second pic with nose art is TALE OF MISS FORTUNE....44-40991...Consolidated B-24J-190-CO
