Today, not unless you know what you are looking for, and are looking really closely, or you have trustworthy documentation with unambiguous provenance.

Of course back when they were first built or in service, the date, user and context would answer the question.

Simplifying or ignoring accurate history doesn't tend to work too well for anyone involved. I don't see how lessening the significance of the CAC production would be a net positive for anyone.

On the couple of CAC mustangs that I've seen somewhat "naked" revealed some Anodized grey wing skins in some areas
and some anodized parts as I recall. I believe I saw some anodized
longerons. May have been a lot more parts as well. That was back in the 90's.

When the objective is "Git 'er flying", or "Git 'er sold" history can come second to paperwork 'convenience' (or viability of restoration) and changes to achieve the result - some, like new pipes and systems very sensible, others, no so much...
