Before the 78th FG moved to it more common known home of Duxford, it had a brief stay on arrival in the UK at Goxhill airfield, North Lincolnshire. Once the 78th moved south it continued to be operated by the USAAF as a training field for new pilots coming to the ETO, the 496th FTG with P-38's and P-51's
Today the airfield has returned to agriculture and storage, but much remains of the technical site

Today the fire truck and meat wagon sheds still survive, but the tower was demolished for relocation to the States ( a sad story in itself )

Mechanical Grade oil drum left over

The photo developing building still survives, with doors and stencils still alive if faded

Operations buliding still stands with doors fading in the sun

The 3 main hangars are alive and still in use today, but not with the P-47 / P-38 / and P-51's taking shelter, but a more lesser interesting use of storage

Have a few more if people are interested
