Spotted the B-29 influence years ago. Seems like another of the Star Wars spaceships used the tail of an F-5/T-38. I always liked that aspect of the movie.

The queens transport ship in episode 1 looked similar to an SR-71, at least to me.

I always thought that the cockpit area of the X-Wing looked like ME-109 inspired

anyone else notice the old ejection seats used in the movie? Look like old F-4 seats to me...

A few years ago the History Channel ran a series called "Star Wars: The Legacy Revealed" whose promotional posters purported to show the process by which the X-wing fighter was evolved from -- a T-6! Or maybe it's a Wirraway.

That one, I have to say, I never quite bought.

i do know that almost.., verbatim.., both the fighter scenes and the run on the Death Star were taken from "Dam Busters" and "633 Squadron"

I'm pretty sure the two seats in the Millennium Falcon cockpit are de Havilland Vampire bang seats.
