VC-140B - LBJ Ranch Restoration Help Needed

We have restored the exterior but now want to begin working on the interior. Anybody with suggestions of consultants or good aircraft folks to contact for guidance?

I know the South Texas Mafia would love to get there mitts on another government project!

There are several aircraft (bizjet) interior refinishers in Texas...San Antonia and Dallas areas. They might be abobe to give advise and/or parts.

If you're not worried about authenticity...contact one of the Bizjet salvage firms...like White Industries out of Missouri...I bet they have complete JetStar interiors available from parted-out airframes.

I was in a VC-140 in 1965 when astronaut Ed White stopped at out base for refueling in one after his space flight. I got his autograph and also got into the JetStar (my dad was the Base Ops Officer) and it was poretty basic inside. Not alot of cabinets or anything special.

I would guess the plane at the NMUSAF still has its original VIP interor, you could use that as a reference.

The IBDA (Birddoggers) will have a fly-in next weekend (18th) at the LBJ Ranch with about 30 dawgs and other Viet Nam era aircraft + re-enactors from 10 till 1500 right behind the VC 140.

I served in the 89th MAW at Andrews AFB as the safety chief during the Johnson Administration. I have photos of the Jetstar that LBJ used. It's tail number was 12488. I hope during your restoration, you were in contact with my friend, Jim Cross who piloted it.

I also have a photo of it's interior, if you are interested.
