I got a call yesterday afternoon from the hangar and the news was good! The Spitfire flies again! After almost six years of work she flew like a dream. I’m sorry I wasn’t down there to take pictures. Guys, if you have never seen an Mk XIV fly you are in for a treat. I can’t wait for the weekend.

It is getting late in the season but if we can book her we will. Check our website under air show bookings. I wasn’t on the ramp for the flight but here is some vid from Tuesdays engine test.

Any plans to refresh the livery?
It has been wearing that paint scheme since the first flight, post Craig Charleston's restoration in the UK, - 9 April 1983.

The reason she was down was due to a fried engine. It took us a while to come up with the big bucks to get the Griffon replaced. The heads on this new engine were originally for a Shackleton and had to be modified. I was told that a large stash of Shack parts was found and parts are plentiful. She has a new engine and a new cooling system. As for repainting her I have been told the guys plan on a more traditional RAF paint job in the future possibly this winter.
