Excellent news, always great to see another warbird take to the sky.

Question. How are the plans for the 26th of June coming? I know that as of a few days ago there is a concern that some yellow birds from an hour east of Tillsonburg may not make it because of the G-20 summit " No transponder...No fly" zone which these birds find themselves housed in. How big a turnout of aircraft are you expecting should you be blessed with good weather. Just curious....I plan on attending.

Cheers,

Jeff

Jeff,

I would think the Tiger Boys would fly the aircraft out of the zone before the restricted airspace takes effect if they plan to fly that weekend. However, they will need hangars if any crazy weather hits.

Hi Jeff,

I know that the Tiger Boys were planning on attending up until a week or so ago, but at the moment are still 'up in the air'. (pardon the pun)

I don't think there's any harm in letting the cat out of the bag regarding participating aircraft since we were mainly waiting for the grant, so...

The list so far:
All 10 CHAA aircraft (8 flying)
Canadian Harvard Aerobatic Team
Vintage Wings of Canada P-40N
No. 6 RCAF Dunnville Museum aircraft:
Yale, Harvard(s?), Cornell, Fleet Finch, T-28, Tiger Moth?
My Yale 3390 project

Any participation by CWH aircraft is still uncertain, as we have been unable to get in touch with the one making the decisions.
If any do show up, that's great, but as of right now we don't know of any that can or will be flying in.

I'll start another thread soon letting everyone know about this event, as well as Wings & Wheels in July and the airshow in August.

:partyman:

BTW I just noticed that it was exactly a year to the day from when I started this thread until 3399 actually flew. Kinda ironic...

Shane,

what day is the gathering? I would love to make it out there. The Yale is completely apart now, in the process of working on the tubular. Maybe I could bring that to the show so at least 3383 is there at heart.

Congratulations and well done!

But whoa.... I'm planning to bring the P-40, and I didn't know anything about a G-20 Notam! Sure, it has a transponder, but I'd better dig into this...

For those that may be transitioning to airshows such as this here is a link to AIP Canada with information on the two restricted zones for the G8 and G20 events.

Patrick, it's June 26th.

Just heard some more news regarding the Tiger Boys. I guess they somehow have resolved the issue (or so I hear) and are still planning on attending on the 26th.
It's not set in stone, of course. But then again any air show act is tenataive until the day of the show.

Unfortunately the Tigerboys will not be attending the show.
Apparently two pilots loosely associated with the group have staged a bit of a coup and have convinced CHAA that they should be flying the show that the Tigerboys and CHAA had originally agreed upon. This leaves head Tigerboy Tom Dietrich and the majority of the Tboys out of the planned event.
It's too bad , there was a unique opportunity to have examples of all the different BCATP Trainers present. The Tboys could have had 3 T/Moths and Two Fleet Finches present. Along with the Yales Harvards Cornels etc there would have been quite a yellow bird line up. One like never seen in a long time. At most there may be an Australian T/Moth and maybe one Canadian one being operated by this new group.( which does not represent the Tigerboys)
Repeated attempts by the T/Boys to contact CHAA in order to correct this issue have gone unanswered.

Fleet 16b,

I am involved in organising the three air shows at Tillsonburg this Summer.

Please pm me re: the Tiger Boys.

I'm not sure why two are attending and the remainder of your group aren't. We would wish for all to attend and would be very disappointed if we had inadvertantly caused any disagreement amongst your group.

Nice shooting. It was a fun little event. BTW, that is me shooting in images 1738 and 1821.

Cheers,

Eric

Thanks, Eric. I have lived in the States for the last 10 years, so it was my first trip back to the Tillsonburg area in a long while.

I was an active CHAA member in the past and did lots of photography for the group, including air-to-air, which I really enjoyed.

When I was there 3399 was a work in progress, and I was very happy to show up on the weekend of her first "official" flight. I know Charley Fox and Lou Hill, among many orhers, would have been extremely proud to see her take to the air.

After a three year maintenance delay following an 'unscheduled landing' back in 2010, 3399 returned to the skies over Tillsonburg this morning!
