Midland Traron 2009

Sat Oct 10, 2009 9:38 pm

Traron was cut a little short this year because of the wonderful west Texas weather. But anyway, I took a few shots from the ramp area and a few while riding in the back seat of the West Houston Sq's T-6:

TRARON was very sparse this year. I heard that 34 had registered, but not that many showed up. I think that was 34 members though, not aircraft. A lot of planes weren't able to make it due to weather.

Was that Marty or Mark flying in the first picture?

It was Mark in the in-flight picture. I flew formation with Marty on the previous flight in our T-6 (didn't take any pictures during that flight  )

Well, if you were flying, I'd hope you didn't take pictures. :)

Good to see that they both made it this year. The other 2 aircraft look pretty spiffy as well and are ones I don't remember seeing previous years. Sad I missed this year. :(

The big surprise was when Julie's T-6 showed up with a new paint job! Instead of Navy blue, it's now an orange-tinged yellow, painted to honor a unit of the New Mexico Air National Guard. Pretty bird! I wish I had my camera with me. Did anyone get a shot of it to post?

Julie's T-6 did look great! I warmed up really quickly to the NM ANG scheme... Too bad only a few 6's showed. Darn TX weather.

Bluehawk, here is a photo I took as she taxied out for the missing man performance. I enjoyed the new scheme.
