What the heck is a "Stratolina?"

Hmmm could a stratalina be anything from a stratocruiser? or c97? Or does it need wings? :?:

Again, not exactly a news flash here, but I was able to get the cargo door for the Stratolina working today...at least sort of working.

I removed the emergency hydraulic hand pump from the co-pilot's position and mounted it underneath the selector valve for the door. Right away, I noticed that some of the check valves were gummed up and such, but rather than just resealing them all at once, I'm decided to do it the hard way. :roll:

Eventually, and after taking a couple different showers with hydraulic fluid, due to rotten hoses busting, I was able to get the door to rise without the aid of a forklift for the first time in many, many years.

But naturally, I've got another check valve that's not "unchecking," so the door isn't coming down like it should. So I've just called it a day and will eventually just reseal everything in the system, like I should've done in the first place. A pretty stupid mistake on my part for sure.

It's a shame casting aluminum is so expensive, cuz it would be really fun to do a nice marker like that, but.....the Texas State Historical Folk MIGHT have an issue with it!!! They have NO sense of humor!!! :shock:

Ok... Three questions.

1. Where is the original marker in the picture that you modified? I kind of wonder if I recognize that background.
2. Having done a very nice job of modifying that marker, would it be possible for you to tell us the process? It might be useful you know!
3. Next time, will you let one of us Texans proofread it first so that it doesn't make the state look backwards? (ex. were know to be)? :wink:

All in all, good job pardner!

P.S. Oh, and yes! Some of us here in Texas do actually stop and look at those markers. Many are very interesting!

Found a decent sized pic on the net, this one is for Thomas Deye Owings of Brenham. Tossed it into Photoshop and 1:shortened the whole sign some because it was too tall. 2: Cloned the background "pebble" texture over the whole face except the logo 3: Found Fonts similar to what is used on these signs and typed some gibberish. 4: Added dropshadow to the text layers to get the raised effect.

Got some kin on one or two of these signs scattered about. One, a little place called Luckenbach. I have read my share of them!!

PS I'm from Seguin, but have been away!!!
