Yeah, that's my "other" proud moment, Jack. :D
(We're only allowed two proud moments, right?)

Drag this thread anywhere you want, Gary. It is such interesting reading that I was almost late in picking up my wife after work. (I'm retired, she is not, yet, but I don't want to push my luck  ).

Chev engine improvement to a ford, Hmmm, not if a ford guy hears that.
Theres lots of ford powered items that are beating chev powered ones too. So best to give them all the same recognition, there is no this is better than that, its all what the owner of the thing feels is better.

Nice!

Thanks, but one day I'd like to have the "coolest finished stuff" with no projects laying around.

Liar  I don't think your DNA allows for "no projects"

I like the tshirt idea, and I'll buy a few. The idea I like even better is a calendar. With all the great photogs her on WIX, surely someone could make it out to Austin Acres and catch Stratolina in some good poses  Now there's some aviation porrnn I would pay for!

If Gary would be willing to pose in a few with some half-buttoned overalls we could market them to our wives...

Whoa! Sorry about that last one, Gary. Not questioning your morality. I've made a note to cut the meds in half tomorrow...

Trust me, pictures of me wearing half buttoned overalls wouldn't be good for calendar sales.

"My introduction to the Hawker Sea Fury was when I was six years old in 1976, at the National Championship Air Races in Reno, NV. Lloyd Hamilton's Sea Fury "Baby Gorilla" was one of my favorites even though it wasn't one of the fastest."

I hate myself for where I'm going with this....and Gary, I'm sorry. It's just the 'Biggest Ego on the Ramp' (I know some of you will get this...) in me.

But Lloyd didn't race Baby Gorilla at Reno in 1976. He had an engine failure climbing out over the Tehachipi range on the Monday morning after the Mojave races in June, and during the emergency landing the gear collapsed....and it wasn't able to be repaired in time for Reno in September.

Sorry........ [/i]

I'm just the idea guy. My company has spent 10's of dollars teaching me to think outside the box  You created Stratolina, I'm just trying to help you market her

I'll furnish the catering for the photo shoot, and we'll focus on the airplane. Who can furnish the artwork for the tshirt?

Hey, let's have a T-Shirt contest!

The winner of the best T-Shirt Design gets their name written in Sharpie on the bottom of the Stratolina's tail! You know, like all the names on the big show birds on the circuit!

Yes, your name can be the Tramp Stamp on the Stratolina!!

I have no problem being corrected when I'm wrong. I just know my first year at Reno was 1976, at an age of 6. And while this picture may be from '77 or maybe even later, I was always under the impression it was taken during 1976 and that this was Baby Gorilla. (and yes, that's me standing next to my Granddaddy in front of the airplane).............
