Yea, did not notice the B24 part but noticed when the SR-71 transformed, he sent the N3N flying!!!!! You should have seen me, I told my wife, he better not touch that N and whats he do..................guess he must have been a stearman fan:)

You guys kill me........ Garth, Dave, Gary, Jeff...... interesting coincidence in the movie times two? I would tend to think not.... We have been contacted lately by an independant movie company concerning "Ol' 927", but not (to my knowledge) anyone from Micheal Bay's company. That however, would have a cool factor of about 15 on a scale of 1-10. I think we need to make a few contacts, 'cause based on the gross dollars taken in so far, I think there will have to be a Transformers-III. Alan

Oh BTW, one for Jeff..... you probably already know about this N3N-3, it is out at the Reno-Stead airport with the High Sierra Sqdn. They also have an F-86F Sabre under restoration to fly. Follow the link here for info via the monthly newsletter.

I saw "Revenge of the Fallen" the other night, and not to spoil anything but part of the plotline involves locating old Transformers that have been here a long, long time (like Jetfire, which is the Smithsonian's SR-71).

One of the scenes showed an open file with pictures of suspected "sleeper" Transformers, and a map of the US where they were supposed to be located. One of the pictures was of a B-24A, and one of the dots on the map was just about where Midland, TX is (yes, I know '927 and FiFi have moved to Cavanaugh). Really intrigued me ...

I went to see that movie, just to see the scene you spoke of and yes I do agree. the photo of the B-24 and the spot on the map would indicate that maybe Ol' 927 and "FIFI" could be old transformers. How cool would that be? I'll talk to HQ on Monday and let them run with it.

Particularly interesting is the last photo showing the twin-50 tail gun position. Makes for an interesting compare/contrast with the B-24A arrangement (as with '927).

It's a 1953 Film called "The Flying Businessman" and is certainly one of those promotional / informational films done by some sort of Government agency... like the Agency of Polyester and Fedoras...

If you look at the 3 minute mark, you'll see a shot of Ol' 927 in her civvie garb... and there are some other warbird conversions in there too.

It's a good watch overall... :-)

Cool video, Ryan, but that wasn't 927 that was shown. That was a sister-ship/carbon copy of it that was used by some other business (that I can't remember right now). I want to say the airplane crashed, or was somehow damaged beyond repair, and was later scrapped. 927 was the same paint scheme, only all white, with green stripes, and was owned by Continental Can, and later by PEMEX Petroleum.

It was kind of cool to see the MAAM's Channel Wing taxiing under it's own power in that movie, towards the end.

<EDIT> I just received an e-mail suggesting that the airplane in the video posted was indeed 927. If so, then I stand corrected. I just must've been dreaming when I thought that there was a second airplane, with a similar paint scheme. Sorry for the mis-information.

Not only 927 here - could that converted Marauder be Carolyn? Weren't there only two or three such conversions made with the oval side windows?

Looking at the ASW mods on the B-24D, the aft turret looks like the one my father described as being on their B-24J "Merry Boozer". He called it a lightweight turret that was used in the Pacific Theater. While he manned the other end (Nose) turret, he always liked the idea of the aft gunner being able to dump the guns and follow them out if they had to bail out.
