Nice pics! It always struck me as funny the Navy facilities out in the middle of the Great Plains! I knew someone who was trained as a sailor with a plywood ship! I guess not everyone in the Navy even sees water!

I only scanned a few of the million photos that are at the Combat Air museum in Topeka, KS - about an hour from Olathe. The Olathe NAS museum shut down in 2004 and gave most of their stuff to Topeka. I was blown away by the types flown out of Olathe - Helldivers, Avengers, hellcats, Corsairs, bearcats, PB4Ys, Neptunes, Skyrays, Skyhawks, Corair IIs, and even Crusaders! Lots of pics of all the types. I will be scanning more soon.

gotta love those F4Ds!! Another type I'd love to see flying again but never will.

What is the story of the Cosair found just south of the base in a barn near Gardner,Ks. I was told it was a birdcage corsair and went to NZ. Any truth to it?

Do you have any pictures of PV-2 Harpoons? I know they were stationed at Olathe. Thanks.
