FWIW:

I joined this community because I have a passion for warbirds, and wanted to learn everything I possibly could from those of you much more experienced and knowledgeable than myself. I have learned SO much from WIX. I've been like a sponge, and the more I learn, the more addicted I become.

I'm of the younger generation on WIX, and the knowledge I have gained from you guys has been invaluable. A lot of you were heavily involved in the warbird community long before I was even born! To me, that's a good thing. I've always looked up to and respected my elders. I am just a guy with a burning desire to one day own a P-51. And I don't know any place else where I can meet and discuss freely with owners, pilots, and mechanics and be so welcomed like I was an old friend. Thank you everyone for all your time and patience answering my many questions, and posting stories, photos, and videos that can't be seen anywhere else.

So the big question is....why can't we all get along? We're all grownups and we all have a passion for these machines. We have different backgrounds and lifestyles...but what brought us here is warbirds. And that's why I visit this place multiple times a day. Why is it so difficult for us to just talk warbirds? Maybe I am being naive.

To answer your question as succinctly as I know how....EGO.

Mudge the brief

Maybe a little bit. "Warbirds" contains the word "war" for a reason, and people of different backgrounds view the original reason for these aircraft being built differently. Take a Japanese Zero or FW190 for instance. It can be hard for some who lost family members to these aircraft during war to hear about how "successful" they were. My late dad luckily survived two kamikazee hits (one above his station) on the Ticonderoga during the war. I don't think he wanted to see my photos of Zeros as much as Hellcats, TBMs and Helldivers. :)

I still think that arguments are pretty few and far between.
