Actually, the fat guy in the photo is me. (Look between the Mudges...way in the background near the C-54...Burgundy Flight suit....)

Sorry about your vision problem...only two sets of wings. Over the right pocket is my RAF wings from my time with Eagle Squadron. Over the left is my USAAF wings. Not sure what else you're referring to.
The emblem on the right pocket is my Eagle Squadron "1942" pin. On the left pocket is my "Winged boot" from the time I was shot down and walked back to allied lines.

No vision problem here, au contraire. I'm well provided with glasses! Your ES 1942 pin (have a glance - note the bird, equipped with, ah, wings...) looked at the size of pic like another national set of pilot's wings - but not so. I'd not come across the ES pin before, so thanks for the encouragement to look that up.

You looked very smart, too.

Great photos - loving JB's Spitfire, especially.

That Stuka replica - that's the old Louis Langhurst one, isn't it? I couldn't see a reg. number on it to be sure, though.

I know the camera adds 10 pounds but I didn't know it shrunk someones height!

I think so. I haven't seen that plane since the early 80s at Oshkosh. It is surprisingly convincing when in motion.

It is without a doubt that it one of the most proud things I've done in my short flying career would've been when I was honoring a fallen friend and aviator during a missing man formation.

I've seen missing man formations at many, many airshows now, and perhaps I'm just a wuss, but I typically get choked up every time I see it. It is a very poigniant manuever done for people you've met and people you haven't. But either way, it's an important part of aviation in my opinion. I can only hope that maybe when it comes time for me to pass, that someone can find four folks that are willing to do a missing man for me. It would be a huge honor to have that done on my behalf.

I agree, Gary. I got chills watching the missing man formation Sunday afternoon and more than a few times I saw my dad tear up during the missing man, even though he never served.
