This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

We haven't had any feed back on noise issues. This run wasn't at much power. To run any power on this you have to tie down the tail.
The Griffon has a much deeper growl than the poppin higher noise of a Merlin. I'd say the Griffon wasn't much of a noise maker and it was pretty cold so we ran it in front of the hangar.

Rich, ask Fred what I mean when I say "H&S considerations". It's not a prop manufacturer...
I benefit from knowing enough people from and on that side of 'The Pond' in aviation that I've picked up far too much of the lingo for my own Texan good.

I have been doing my best to "Americanize" Fred and doing my best to avoid the opposite.

Well it's Sunday which means I'm on my own without Rich's supervision. Boy we got a lot done. Our friends Bill and Scooter Yoak showed up today and entertained Fred and me. Once we were done that, we topped off all the fluids, chased all the minor leaks, taxiied her around, ran her to zero boost, checked the prop governing. All seemed to go well.
look ma no leaks

I hope you have photographic evidence to prove your outlandish allegation sir! For sir, you have knickers in a knot. I have been a little daft lately from dealing with your dodgy aeroplane. It has me a bit tushy about tit.
Cheers

I just spent 2.5 weeks in Burgess Hill for training...I don't think I've ever heard "brilliant" said so many times in the course of a day.

Yesterday we did the high power run.
Tied down and ready to run.
Ready to howl.
Start up.
Running.
Note the elevation of the tail wheel. It is floating a few inches off the ground.
Video of idle.
On to finishing things up for the DAR tomorrow.

We only ran it to +8 lbs of boost or around 46" mp.
We chickened out on the +12 power setting.
