Hi. Ive been lurking on this forum for a couple of years and have never really had much to say (basically because I dont own a plane). My name is Dave Pagano and Im located In Sydney Australia.
I have a real passion for early aviation especially raceplanes from the thirties and off course warbirds.
I built a flying control line model of the Hall racer and entered it in the Nationals here.
I judge second in the static but crashed the model in flight.
Its a really hard plane to fly. From my research the real one had some serious problems (re the taller rudder). So much so that the owner refused to fly it and it was eventually scrapped. If someone can send me an email I can send them a pic of the model to post on the site.
Also someone on this forum wanted to build a model ( I cant find his post). I went to a real lot of trouble to scratch build this model. I believe its as accurate as can be considering the lack of info. I still have the hand drawn plans for the model that Im more than happy to copy for anyone who wants to pay the postage.
My other passion is collecting old cars and vintage raceboats.
I have recently restored a Rolls Merlin powered hydroplane that I raced for the first time 8 weeks ago.
Before everyone gives me a hard time for wasting a great engine.
The boat has a great racing history from the 60's winning everything there was to win and miraculously surving all this time after a near fatal crash in 1972.
The engine ( Merlin 70 series) was sold as war surplus and never flew in an aircraft.
Plus my income will never realise ownership of the kind of plane I dream of. This is a close second.
You can check the boat out on you tube just type in Aggressor Thunderboat or Dave on Collectors.

My friend has just finished a set of plans for me of the Weddell Williams Gilmore Lion which I hope to start in the New Year. Hopefully it will fly better. Dave
