I do like the idea of having more first-generation jets in the flights, and I think that the Air Force and Navy should step up and operate such types that have proven too troublesome for private operators to afford easily, such as F-84, F9F, etc. Like what the RAF used to do with its old-jet flight and the RN still does with its Sea Hawk. Then at least the flights would include a component that isn't seen elsewhere or by itself.
Seeing the multiple generations of fighters in the sky together isn't really necessary for me to appreciate the comparison, I find that I am able to do that just as well when they fly individually -- or better, since they can really show what they can do then rather than just hold a formation with a dissimilar aircraft.
I consider the musical accompaniment sappy and annoying, and am more likely to gag than choke up, but I guess I'm just not into that stuff.

Good thoughts - although I don't see the Air Force or Navy getting into operating older vintage jets (at least beyond the F-4's at Tyndall and Holloman - which still serve as "drones.") anytime soon.
I will say that whether as an offical Heritage or Legacy Flight or in some other form I LOVE seeing
formations of aircraft more than just individual flybys. I saw a great picture of a 4-ship flight at Oshkosh last year that I would have loved to have seen. It was a diamond formation consisting of an FJ-4B Fury, an F-86F Sabre and two T-33's.
An example of a terrific WWII formation I would like to see is a P-38, P-40, P-47 and P-51. Formations like Four P-47s flying together would be outstanding, also. I just find the sight and sound of large formations of aircraft more exciting and dramatic than single ship flybys.
Now for very large aircraft (AN-124, AN-225, AN-22, A380, 747, C-5, Martin Mars, etc.) single aircraft flybys ARE very dramatic and I would love to see those anytime.....
