Regarding the first post, does anyone have any information about the significant Stuka/ Me-110 remains that the Alpine Fighter Collection was supposed to have sold several years ago? Anyone ever see any of these aircraft? I wonder if Mr. Allen has anything along these lines.

I believe all of the Luftwaffe stuff formerly owned by Alpine were sold off to museums and/or other collectors. I seem to remember that the Me-110 went to a German museum. All of that stuff remains static, unfortunately.

As far as Mr. Allen, I've heard rumors that he has some AMAZING stuff that has not been made public yet. I don't know any specifics.

Preserved Axis Aircraft used to have several JU-87 and Me-110 airframes listed as belonging to the Alpine Fighter Collection, but now there is only one, an Me-110 with questionable whereabouts and no pictures. I would love to see a 110 fly...a Stuka would be amazing too, but they seem even more rare. Someone needs to buy that FW-189 and get that thing finished up! Mr. Allen... hint hint!!!!!!

Maybe that is why our museums annual airshow ia so popular, we have military jets a few demonstration teams using L-39?? and then ,most of everything else is recip. And as far as 6 of anything, we usually have a very large gathering of P-51's, we jave had in the past a corsair, last year we had a P-38 and he is returning again this year. WE enjoy the sounds. love them all I just checked our site(link below) we also have a bearcat and a A-1E Skyraider.

I didn't know that he had acquired that aircraft. That's good to hear...it may be a flier after all!! In my defense, it is still listed on the warbirdfinders site as being for sale!! Point taken though.

I'll try to explain this to you all .... I LOVE all things that fly, I love aircraft before 1939 and after 1945, but for some reason that I cannot possibly explain, I have a PASSION for all aircraft from 1939 to 1945, I still don't get it, but I'm hooked on those aircraft, what can I say? ... an F-14, 15, 18, 22 , wow!!!! wonderful, but who the heck cares? not me. I want "WARBIRDS"

I understand the passion for props and WWII aircraft, but I wanted to make sure that as a lover of older vintage jet warbirds that something was said here. I love WWII prop warbirds, but JETS are WARBIRDS, too. I don't get that excited about Modern jets like F-15s, F-16s, F/A-18, etc., but I LOVE to see and hear older vintage Jets (F-86 Sabres, T-33 Shooting Stars, F-104 Starfighters, F-100 Super Sabres, FJ-4B Fury, F9F Panthers (hope there is a flying example again one of these days), among others). Jets that flew in the 50s and 60s are one of MY passions.

And I love prop plane warbirds that are examples of what flew Post WWII (Skyraiders, C-54, C-97, C-123, C-131, Bearcats, Tigercats, HU-16 Albatross, Mustangs and Corsairs in Post War late 40/1950s markings, and many others).

Just wanted to put some balance out there.

Balance is good, yes. I've heard that some people even like airplanes without military markings and guns sticking out of them. Go figure.

I agree here. I never really liked the F-14...its nice and I seen one fly several times. I enjoy watching modern jet demos. But props are more my style. I wish more vintage jets were flying too. I haven't seen a F-22 yet and I am not really looking forward to it.

But I also enjoy just going to my local airport and watch the Cessna and Pipers fly around. Anything to keep from getting bored.

I agree. I think the facination with the modern jets is similar to watching an F1 car, all high tech, fast and loud. But give me a front engine roadster with an Offy and straight pipes, or the NOVI with Herk driving coming down the front straight at the Speedway...now that's a sight.

So, does this not behoove us all to be the teachers of history and develop the interest in the younger generations to appreciate the vintage warbirds?

We know the stories, have the stories, many the experience to share. Talk to the next airshow guest who says, "When are the (modern) jets going to fly?" and tell them what it took to get to these new jets. Maybe we'll develop new historians. 8)

Well gee....when you start your flight lessons you gotta start out with general aviation first. :? Theres literally nothing around here that flies except what comes in and out of local N27. I haven't seen a warbird since Geneseo airshow last year. So until the next Geneseo show the only airplanes I will be able to see are private and at N27.

regards,
Nate

What i wish would happen is to see another short run new build production of these various warbirds. Maybe in the 5 to 7 example range for each.

Val
Kate
Stuka
Me-110
Willow trainer (i bet you could sell alot of these!)

and even dare i say it:

B-26!
