Interesting picture of a P-63E s/n 43-11728 before the AF Museum received it.Note it doesn't have the scoop or gear covers.

I am not familiar at all with this aircraft's history, but the intake does look like one of the "Pinball" variations to me.

The sample shown is a Bell P-63E, AAF 43-11730 with BG William V. Newhall in front of it. c. 1946 at Cleveland Air Races, Ohio. This particular sample later became FAH 402 in 1949. Photo via Wix.
