Thanks for the pic, bdk. Indeed a Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation (CAC) Winjeel, which is an Australian Aboriginal word meaning 'Young Eagle'.

As far as I know, it's the only Winjeel outside Australasia - recently refurbished in Aus after being sold to the present owner. That scheme's oh-so-wrong (with a incorrectly proportioned Roo roundel, fin-flash on the rudder and other sins) - yet so right. Apparently the owner wanted a 'different' and unique scheme, and this one is based on a colour scheme seen on A85-404 and A85-438 in the early 1960s; with a roundel that was only used for a brief period. A lesson that a 'wrong' scheme is sometimes very accurate.
If you want one, they aren't too rare here - there's 30 on the civil register in Australia. They're not a bad aircraft either - three or four seater, P&W Wasp Jr engine for the xenophobic-engineer and fully aerobatic, and everyone knows petrol's real cheap in N.America...
