Just got home from the Aviation heritage festival in Nashua where I recieved my first warbird flight courtesy of Ryan K and the Collings Foundation.
I rode in the waist position of thier B-17 "909". I must say it was a most incredible experience. I absolutely loved it. They left the radio compartment hatch open and I was able to stand with my head in the slip stream. I was so jacked up after landing and desperately wanted to do it again. I heartily recommend this experience to everybody.
The flight was a topper to a most excellent day. The Collings Corsair, B-25, B-24, B-17, UC-78, Texan, Stearman and Storch were there. All in attendance were P-51 Glamourous Gal, P-40 Jacky C, P-47 Jackies revenge, Skyraider "Naked Fanny" and numerous other aircraft. I got to meet Jim H, Warhawk and K. Lang and hang with Warhawk, K.Lang, TimAPNY and his lovely and tolerant wife, Cindy, Bill Scheurman and his wife, Rob Rohr and Ryan Keough. I also got a chance to talk with a lurker who recognized me, leading to cries of "Back Off Hoser, I'm famous." reminiscent of Geneseo
All in all a great time was had by all and the B-17 flight will be something I never forget.
