I think most of us on this website realize that all air shows have limited budgets and there are many expenses that go into trying to get any individual aircraft to ashow. Mike Luther aasked us what we wanted to see - and we appreciate him asking.

Most of us know that the suggestions offered here are just "wish lists" and that many if not most of these probably cannot be accomodated.

We know that Mike and Kevin will do a great job in giving us the best warbird lineup possible.

Any chance of getting B-25H for the show?

Is Barbie still in AZ? Is she coming back to IL anytime soon??

As of now it looks like to much money to come from AZ.

Must be saving money for the cost to bring the Blue Angels in.

The F-100 comes up on alot of peoples lists. Some people have asked why the F-100 does not make it to that many shows that have it on thier list. I asked and He said the reason is that he is on call for work and can't be sure he can make it till a few days out.

It is right that we could do flybys, but he said he could not land. :(

As reported in a separate subject area today, and on Dave Schultz's website, apparently the Blue Angels will be coming to Thunder Over Michigan next July.

Hopefully this will be a positive for the air show and will not negatively impact the warbird presence. I don't think it will, and I congratulate Kevin and Michael on being able to bring this about. It should be a financial boon for the event, bringing in more of the regular public casual air show visitors.

Look forward to hearing more about the show planned for July as it develops.

:)

If this is truly the case, forgive me for sounding negative, but------why?? Thunder is already a big enough show, one that brings in people from all over. Why abandon the main focus of the show in order to bring in more locals? The Blues and 'Birds fly enough at other shows that having them at Thunder can't be expected to bring in more people from outside that immediate area.
In my opinion, Thunder needs to remain a warbird show and drop the concept of adding modern hardware to it's line-up.

The T-Birds attended the Rockford, IL air show and they doubled their attendance from the year prior.

Count me in as one more "yes" vote for adding a component of the show that will reach out to the general public and will benefit the Yankee Air Museum & TOM organizers. A good PR move and should be a good revenue boost.

While it is a hassle dealing with the additional crowds/traffic that will result, it is a good way to introduce Joe public to the Warbird movement. It is also good community PR that YAM needs as they struggle to raise funds for their new home.

Personally I have seen enough of the modern armed forces aviation acts to last my lifetime. I totally respect the talent of the teams and the serving armed forces they represent, but once in a while is enough for me.

Good for the YAM & TOM. Here's hoping it all works out for them. I am sure there will be plenty of "smaller" warbird shows in their future as well.

I like the idea myself, as for B-25's are cool but not my cup of tea.

Seeing a Yank Demo team like the blues will be cool and as stated, will help the YAM with even bigger crowds which = $$

A suggestion re the Fighter Factory Mitchell...since her pilot posts here...

If "Wild Cargo" is being flown from Virginia Beach to Ypsilanti, would it not be rather cool to have her (in company with a photo aircraft) detour a bit to overfly a certain set of coordinates in northeastern Ohio en route...?? She is the first former Soplata collection warbird to fly again; a photo of her over her longtime "home" would be pretty priceless IMO...just a thought.

Cheers

S.

This sounds like an incredible airshow, I really hope I can make it out that way this year! How very very cool... seeing that many B-25's would be amazing! (Not to mention everything else!!)

My fingers are crossed.

:)

I may be having a "crazy british guy" moment but ~ as the US Navy is being represented by the Blue Angels ..........

Maybe the USAF could be persuaded to have a B-52 fly-by ? ( better if it could stay for the weekend )

Having seen the images from Barksdale with B-17 ~ Thunderbird ...... a B-52 / B-17 / B-25 flyover of the metrolpoitan area on Friday afternoon should focus local peoples attention ? :D

A B-52 flyby at Thunder would be pretty cool - the B-52H has been around long enough now (45 years +) to qualify for warbird status I would say - but after what they have said about the difficulty for an F-100 to land at Willow Run, I wonder if it is even possible for a B-52 to land there.

A B-52 - B-17 - B-25 formation does not excite me that much, I would rather wait until FIFI is back in the air and then try to stage a Flyby of the B-52/B-29/B-17 (and maybe B-24, also).

Yes. Any aircraft can be landed at any airfield in the world. Once.

I don't think landing is the problem. It's the taking off with any sort of load that would be an issue. My understanding is that when the B-52 that's on static display landed, he popped the drag chute. I was told that it was "strictly for show", but in looking at the runways, I wonder if it wasn't a necessity.
