Thanks for sharing the pics. Nice to see they have "No Guts" reassembled and flying again.

Did you see the Gee Bee R-1 nonflying repro? We built that one for the LA County fair in 2003 as a sign or hook for the Exhibit Hall entrance. Later we added a cockpit and a more realistic cockpit enclosure, etc. Was sold to POF a few months after the closing of the fair.

It is a four X's enlargement of 1/4 scale model plans by Vern Clements. We built it in a 17 day (24 hrs ) window. The prop is real as are, wheels / tires, tail wheel, and flying wires. Wheel fairings and cowl were carved from foam and epoxy/glassed. These laminated/built-up from an endlaess supply of 1" thk foam insulation. Fairings had foam melted out afterward. Fun project but the preasure was on to get it done.

Boy you can sure get a lot of weid looks from people when yopur hauling this one down the highway!

Yup, saw the Gee Bee! Looks convincing except for the painted flat piece of plywood in lieu of the engine. Good job!

I'm looking forward to my 1st visit to Chino next week. Thanks for the pics.

Thanks for posting these Brandon. It's great to see the P-47 back in the air.

They've obviously done a bit of work on the Skyrocket since I was there last month - at that time it was lying in the weeds out the back of the hangar covered in moss!

That is still there. I think it might be a mock-up from "The Right Stuff."

BDK, where were you shooting from? Looks like the road that runs N. to S. on the east side of the runway. Either that or you went over the fence from Kimball Ave???

Over by the derelict 727 at the Lockheed hangars on the south side of the field. You need a gate pass to get over there.
