That Mossie sure has the right stuff, I'd love to see a few on the airshow circuit. Is the Spitfire ex Dave Price? If so I have sat in it aand almost got to fly it in Santa Monica. Does it have clipped wing tips? I'm not used to seeing that on the Griffon models. Does anyone know why they don't fly it?

The Spit is ex-Bill Destefani and does indeed have the clipped tips. The clipped wing is not unusual for the XIV. Here is the history of the Spit, a long and very interesting one!

TZ138. Yes this is the Bill Destefani machine. I have an ownership change to David Price reported variously as mid 1997/98 and presumed coincident with the move from Shafter Field to Santa Monica in late 1997.

I've been fortunate to also have been hosted by Bob Jens to have a look over his Mosquito project (and Spitfire) in Vancouver. A genuinely nice guy who gave of his time when he must have been very busy - an enthusiast's enthusiast!

Hi everyone. First post on this site.

I work at YVR, and when I saw the Spitfire out of the hangar, I decided to go get some pictures. Wasn't able to talk to anyone though, so I'll have to back another time when I can talk to Mr. Jens.

The hangar was open, so I was able to get a pic of the Mosquito as well. Lookls like there's some good progress since the last pictures. Certainly would be something to see it fly.

Hey Jason, thanks for posting those pictures! They look great. I haven't been to see them in a while so I think I'll have to pay Bob a visit sometime soon.

I'm from the Vancouver area as well and semi-frequently went by to watch Bob's progress with the Mossie... I can't wait to see it fly. Let us all know when you talk to Bob if he's got an idea for its first flight.

On that note, I would love to see if we can convince him to have his Spitfire at a local airshow.

Why doesn't he fly the Spit, 6 years is a long time?

How much is new build on the Mossie? Exactly what needs to be done when restoring a 60 year old wooden plane thats glued together?
How does one test the fuselage structure, etc.?
