had a brain fart while watching an old mash re-run... on another post somebody wanted to know what warbirds the wixers have been on. i couldn't find the old thread, so i started / brain farted another. old news...... i've been up in the air classics b-25, oscarduece's cessna 0-2, a pt 13, numerous dehavilland beavers & otters on pontoons in canada, & the old island airlines ford trimotor that flew the world's shortest airline route to the ohio lake erie islands. new news....... while watching
mash i remembered another warbird flight, (times) x7. around 1973 to 1974 i flew on a bell 47 chopper 7 times!! 15 bucks for 15 minutes. yes, i worked then in the family business at aged 13, so i had the money. $105.00 bucks was alot of $$$$ for a 13 year old then!! i remember after a few flights the guy took me up for a 1/2 hour per ride....... boy what a bargain!! but a nice gesture from the pilot with a chump kid on board. it was the wellington state fair over the course of a few days. i also ate 1 lb of saltwater taffy 1 night in 1 sitting, but that's another story..... :vom:

Flew in Bill Dause's P-51. Got my tushy (and that's about all) in the back seat of 23 Skidoo. I was outside the cockpit from the neck up and we (Steve Hinton and I) decided this would not be a good idea at 300mph.

Mudge the elongated

Let's see ... military planes/warbirds:

B-17G (x2. Chuckie early 80s; Aluminum Overcast a few years ago for about 2 hours or so from BHM to Nashville. Got to sit in the bombardier's seat for about 30 minutes all by myself looking out that big nose plexiglas ... one of my best aviation memories.)

AT-6/T-6G (x3. Once in a silver/red tail job. Twice with Mark Henley of the AeroShell Team with me in the front seat - full acro/instructional rides - once Mark turned the smoke on from the back, and for a sec I thought we were on fire since you get the burning smell and some smoke in the cockpit, which was a surprise to me. I got to shoot a lot of landings and taxi backs for takeoff ... as I told Mark, "I could get used to this plane - I want one!")

T-38C (x2. First time an acro/low-level ride, and second time as observer as part of an actual student IFF BFM syllabus mission. Definitely the highlight of my "ride" experiences.)

T-34. Long time ago.

Gosh, I think that's all. I have some catching up to do with you guys!

Wade

My list isn't as long as some but I wouldn't trade these for anything.

Stearman
T-6 (several times)
T-34
SBD
TBM
B-25
B17 (several times as CC)
Kate Replica
Skyraider

Most of these came about as a result of volunteering at Lone Star Flight Musuem (So get out and volunteer foks- You just may get a ride!).
