I note that this a/c is listed as being rebuilt at the moment. Does anyone know which shop is doing the work, and how far along it has come?

Hi TJ!

Check: http://www.airshowbuzz.com/forums/index.php?automodule=gallery&req=user&user=6

I don't know the answer to your question, but there is a couple of pictures of the aircraft under rebuild at the link above.

If you read closely it says Jim Beasley bought the P-51B Princess Elizabeth and in bringing it to the states in early '07'.

There have been a few different Mustangs in the Hanger since we started rebuilding the Red Tail, so I may have it wrong, but if I remember correctly the fuselage had some work done at Gerry Beck's Tri-State. It has since moved on.

It'll be nice seeing another B model flying over here.

About a year ago, Jim said he was going to repaint Frenesi slightly different this time, D-Day rather than August '44. I can't wait to see Frenesi back in the air, it's definitley a favorite of mine.

TJ, Mr Beasley sez:

"Frenesi had some fairly significant corrosion on the longerons from where it was bellied in in 1948, so we had to replace them. Then it seemed easier to just redo the fuselage (uggh). then we looked at the horizontal and it needed help. so a new one of those. then we looked at the spar. Not good either. so now we've got to put a new spar in the wings. Carl Scholl at Aerotrader will be doing them. 6 months work, but by then the fuselage will be completed and the engine installed, waiting for the wings to arrive. I guess the good news is that it will be an awesome ride when it's done but I doubt it will be ready for Columbus. Maybe if all the planets line up, but who knows. It was supposed to be done in March 2005 so go figure "

Thanks for the replies gents. Sad to see "Princess Elizabeth" leave, but at least we got to see the a/c for a few years.

Hi Erik.

I would like to see it repainted as it was when first restored by Pete Regina, as Shanga-la.

I'm sure something (or things) will come along to fill the void.

My vote, (as if anybody cares!) would be for Ralph "Kid" Hofer's "Salem Representative"!
Hot stuff!
