Expensive projects?..when do we get to see this?

I know it's kind of like asking for a new battleship...but the 12 year old in me would love to see someone build one of these again...why not? $$$$$$

Ironic you should mention "asking for a new battleship"... I've always wondered if there was any intra-service conflict or rivalry in the Navy about funding for aircraft carriers as opposed to dirigibles. Did anyone (besides General Billy Mitchell, I assume?) publicly consider the airships as operational dead ends and the money better spent on developing aircraft and carriers?

Actually, you guys might be surprised at some of the concepts on the drawing boards for large cargo haulers... in a word the idea ain't dead yet<g>....
