Mustang MkI AG470 RU-M

Thu Jan 04, 2007 1:12 pm

I am looking for some documentation for Mustang MkI AG470 RU-M that Hollis "Holly" Hills flew. He is credited with the first enemy kill while flying the Mustang, and I would like to use his aircraft profile as the basis for an upcoming 1/5th scale RC build.

The image of this painting shows that AG470 had red stripes on the wing, the profile of RU-F below that who was flow by Clark and was flying wing with Hills when he made the kill also shows red stripes. However, when POF had their P-51A painted as AG470 they had yellow stripes across the wing.

Any documentation that shows the correct color scheme would be appreciated.

414 Mustang

Connery:

Here's the best photo I have seen (to date) of a 414 Mustang in that time era with wing stripes. I tend to think, based on the tonal differences/similarities with the fuselage roundel......................the stripes were yellow. I stand to be corrected.
