N3N pics

Anyone on here have any pics of N3N's.....................museum, flying, storage.................working on a registry list for WIX.............thanks for the help.

I'll try to post some photos of the N3N in our museum that is getting ready to leave. First we had to move it from the back corner of the hangar to the front, that was fun. Now it has to have the floats removed and the gear put back under it. I'll take some photos as this gets done and also try to find the old 70s Super 8MM video transfer of it at Lake of the Ozarks, towing a guy on water skis . I've also found some vido take of the one at Hood River taking off on the dolly and landing in the river. I think it was taken in the late 80s or early 90s. Albert

I have quite a few. I'll PM you in a few days with a list of N-numbers and serials; you can tell me what you don't have. Meanwhile here are a couple of my oldest, and my newest.

N__217, unknown place and year but likely Flabob, 1960s. Would appreciate complete N-number.

I think I have seen that footage!!!! Does the guy eat it???? I remember seeing footage of a guy water skiing behind a N and the airplane gets airborne and the guy on the skis eats it big time!!!! we figure 40+ mph easy.

Tim, great pics!! can we use your Geneseo pic of the N flying. Cant get anymore stock than that (even the rare speed ring) Also can I use them in my yahoo group for the owners & pilots???



thanks for posting the one at the lex..........I had wondered where this one went to. It was a flying A/C in the 80's. I had heard that the owner Dick Ruedebusch had donated it to the Navy. At the time I wondered why, they had 2 on display in Pensacola and another in storage.
For your records, that one is former N6358T Bureau # 2959.

Anyone got the numbers of the aircraft at Yanks????

Feeling all warm and fuzzy with all the N pics...........keep them comming.

I know the Coast Guard N3N very well. It is N1120 and I spent around 250hrs flying it around the northwest. It was origionally restored by Jack Tillman and bought by my uncle Gary Wolverton in 1986. I loved flying the old beast and had many adventures in it. I lost count of how many people I took up for thier first open cockpit experience. It got sold to a guy in Texas in 2000 and now it looks like it is still going strong in the Northeast.
The N3N is a great flying airplane and a real Cadillac copared to the Stearman. Four ailerons and everything on ball bearings. The narrow gear and tall skinny tires can be a handfull at times but it will handle a good stiff crosswind with a firm hand. As far as I know that is the only real N3N ring cowl in existance. I understand they only built twelve airplanes with cowls and they all went to the Coast Guard. Thanks for posting the pics and stirring the memories. Don
