Hey guys, I heard a rumor that Meigs Field might be being put back. Is there any truth to these rumors?

I believe that is just a rumor. The last I heard it will be a park, however there will be a heli-pad I believe on the island. The City of Chicago had to pay fines for doing what they did but it will not be coming back, since the runways are gone.

Yeah, its still a park and will be   I was there two weeks ago. I would rather go there instead of Midway, but Giordano's is around the corner from Million Air and the food is the real thing!!!

Well, I know it is a park right now, but I heard that it is a huge debate as far as the government elections down there.

No debate,

Live people get 2 votes, the dead only one. Them's the rules in Chicago.

I reside just outside Chicago. Meigs has 2 chances of becoming an airport again. Slim and None!

Oscar, your comment reminds me of a newscast that actually happened years ago re the crooked voting in Chicago. A major TV network anchor (Cronkite?) was giving election returns and they were coming in slow. It was about 9 pm, well after polls were closed and he said, "They are still counting votes in Chicago", when the microphone picked up a voice in the background that said " Counting, hell they are still voting in Chicago".This was the kind of thing LBJ did on his election to Congress. I wonder if their ever was any public vote or at least major polls done in the airport?

Thanks for the reply. THat is sad to hear. What is the aftermath of all of this. That man should be sent to jail at the very least. I would also like to know how the people of Chicago feel about it.

Chicago used to be a showplace for "The City That Works." Now it is a nightmare of corruption and incompetency. Many of the larger businesses have moved out of the city, out of the county, or even out of state because of it. In the words of one city resident, "The South Side lakefront parks are decaying. Money spent to make a small park at Meigs could repair miles and miles of lakefront parks. But those parks cater to the needs of resident African Americans, not white tourists."
