aircraft has been placed to look like a crash - some extra parts have obviously been added, like at the end of the horizontal stab.

it is marked as 131877 with should translate as 41-31877 a B26, but the tail is too squared off at the top to be a B26?

any thoughts?

Looks like a OV 1D Mohawk. The Star and Bar red stripe could be faded. www.cavanaughflightmuseum.com

wow good spot - I've trawled Google and found the tails match exactly - thanks!

it was almost too obvious - I assumed the extra tails were fake

on the NV, AZ border at an old mining camp - there are also at least 31 T28's stored there.

I'm putting together a piece on my website about this location - I'll post here when I've finished - should be today sometime.

Very interesting photos. It would be interesting to learn the identity of the Mohawk, as this is a previously unknown survivor.

Looks like the center section may have been burned out in a fire in photo 10/11. Are these remains or a survivor?

I wonder if these are John Gibson's T-28s?

Saludos,

One of the T-28Bs there but not listed is B/N 137707 flown by my cousin in flight training and subject of the Monogram 1/48 kit.

I've traded a few emails with John and he seems like a pretty decent fellow.

bear in mind that some may already have moved to a new location in Missouri that John now owns

there were only 31 last month - I think there were up to 50 at one point?
