80's-90's Airshow Pics (Approx. 50 pics)

I did a quick scan of some pics of airshows I went to as a little kid. I apologize about the quality, but I thought some of you might like to see them anyways.....

These were mailed to my dad back in the mid-'70's. He cannot remember who sent them. Looks to me like a Stinson L-1. I believe that is Alaska, but where I do not know.

Mind if I use some of these for the registry?

Just curious

What is the white aircraft 2 above Fifi? I don't recognise the type.

Stinson Willies

Looks like an L1 to me. I wonder if that is the one which was for sale in Australia or New Zealand two years ago. It had 11th AF history. Does anybody have any idea where that one went to? I was in contact with the owner and it was sold. But then I bought the L5 so I couldn't contemplate doing that restoration. I'd like to know it is in active restoration instead of going into the back of a hangar. FYI, I have been told that is a VERY difficult restoration, as everything is unique to that aircraft. Nothing in common with other Stinsons.

If I'm looking at the right picture, it is a Grumman Guardian. Used to be owned by the EAA for a short time, but I think it is now owned by Jimmy Leeward down in Florida.

John,

I am not sure if it's the same L-1 as the one you are talking about, but Garth Turner is actively restoring an L-1 in New Zealand. I just shipped him some wheels for it a couple of months ago. I think he is still looking for a lot of parts, so if you have anything laying around for that beast.....

I'm sure Dave McDonald could probably fill us in better on the status of L-1's in New Zealand though.

Unfortunately he doesn't. He bought it about January '90 in Colorado Springs from Whitey Wannamaker(spelling?). Registration was N60794. He sold in mid-'93 I guess it was. It's tough for me to remeber these things as I was just a little elementary-schooler. Not sure where it is today, but FAA listing says Washington State. I'd be curious to see if anyone has recent pics.

Quick question do you know th story about the Stinson.

If so i would like to know more about it pm please.

Cheers RR

I'm sorry Col. I do not know much about that aircraft. Those pictures were sent to my father back in the early-80's when he was still very active with warbirds. He cannot remember who sent them, but he is going to try to dig up the letter. All I know is those pics are in Alaska circa-1982/3
