That is 92508, then owned by the Whittingtons, now with Fighter Factory. Rob, all three pics are from Oshkosh; I'll get you the years tonight. The first pic, I know, is from 1978. That's F4U-7 133714, now "Alberta Blue", in its Black Sheep TV paint.

I have many more 70s and 80s Corsair pics, will try to scan in a few that haven't shown up on this thread yet.

enjoy the Photos, and yes the young fellow with the "B-17 Sponsor" Hat on is me. I was a Sponsor on Sentimental Journey for 3 years in the early 80's back when Max Baer was around. He might even remember the Hooter Shots on the runway at Denton one Saturday evening during Touch and goes...

That's a great nostalgic shot of Howard's F4U-5N Mint. I remember when he put that plane on the market just as it sat for a little under $300K. That was back around 1987 I believe. I remember thinking it was "kind of much". He had the best Corsair toy box in the world IMO.

This aircraft has been with The Fighter Collection here in the UK for 20 years now, but was repainted about 6-7 years ago into a Royal Navy scheme.

Guys thanks to all of you for posting the pics. Mint, that picture of Fast Eddie with Howard really brings back some memories. When I was helping Merle I always looked forward to doing a show with those guys.

Yes, I have quite a few more of it in that scheme. That was from Oshkosh 1980. I'll try to scan them tonight. Wife and kiddie don't always agree to my evening plans to scan Corsair slides though so it could take until the weekend.

Meanwhile here is the only other one I have handy here at the office. Not the best photo, although it does showcase those great 1980 fashions; most of the others are cleaner like the first one I posted.

i corresponded with the then owner Lou Antonacci, many times i imagine that is him at the controls,i have a letter somewhere that the corsair won best improved warbird that year,can anyone confirm this??

The Aircraft wore a non descript marines scheme of gloss sea blue before this one with the nose art Big Chief.

It was repainted in the VF 17 scheme after overhaul

Also,the canopy rail had been autographed by Tommy Blackburn and Ira Kepford in black paint.

Have since lost touch with Lou, a real nice guy.

Definitely 'the old days' this shot was taken in 1974 at the Tucson Inn during a week's stay there. It was in the Car-park!!

It is/was 97349 an F4U-4 and became N4802X before finally now residing at teh Naval museum in Pensacola
