Flown as Spirit of 76 by Aero Union, circa 1976.

Anybody know the serial # or N-number of this C-54?

This aircraft is Douglas C-54D c/n 10547, USAAF 42-72442, U.S. Navy BuNo 91994. During 1976, it was registered as N76AU. It currently is N3054V, air tanker #162 with AeroFlite.

Also, do a search on N76AU and N3054V.

Wasn't that also the one that had been de-converted and painted olive drab/neutral gray as 'Santa Monica Maid' for a while? As I recall, it was offered for sale, but no one bought it, so it was reconverted to fire bomber configuration again. Jim
