I have consolidated my Planes of Fame photo albums from 2003 and 2005 into one album. I also added into that album my pics from my 1997 visit which are NEW to Webshots, and a number of pics from 1999 which Tom Roberts generously gave me which are also posted for the first time. If you are interested you can find the album at...

http://community.webshots.com/album/268843649QMohHQ

...you can also find the link on my "Features" page at...

http://www.aerialvisuals.ca/Features.html#P

I am still adding titles and captions, but otherwise the album is complete.

I could use some help with the identification of a few airframes. For example the ID of one of the MiG-15s illudes me...

I thought I had a s/n for the Ryan FR-1 Fireball, but I can't find it in my notes anywhere...

Image
EDIT: Thanks to August I now have the ID!

Someone on WIX was recently asking for pictures of the Betty bomber displayed in the diarama. You can find a few pictures of it starting here...

Regards,

Mike

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

Here's a few I took this past summer:

Stash of some 20-odd N3Ns.

These N3Ns were built like bridges!

Thanks for sharing. Those first few pics (the N3Ns) belong to Yanks. I got a few shots myself (although not as good as yours) in February 1995...

WOW I missed this one!!!!!!!

As for the Built like Bridges comment................actually built like Rigid airships.........cause thats where all the aluminum came from!! Recycled blimp parts. Stressed for 9+ and 6-. Build cost was $25,000 each in 1940.

Anyone out there with Yanks that can get more info on where they came from ( I think from an auction in the early 90's in AZ) I would love the numbers off these for the Registry that I am working on....................wonder if there keeping them for tradeing material.

I believe that they were all old time crop dusters, previously with Marsh Aviation down at Falcon Field in Mesa, Arizona.

I believe those came from Aero Salvage in Phoenix when they went out of business. George was ones of those people that you like to know. He had very bad eye sight, that is why he closed down. He had a german shepard that when you came into the yard he would come up and check you out. If you had been there before and were a good guy, he would go back behind the counter and lay down. If you were a unknown, he would follow you around until you left. If you tried to walk out without paying for something, he would let George know. George also had a wall of shame, if you were on his list, you were not welcome in the yard.

Hi again,
I'll try to get some N-numbers next time I pass by there. There were a few sets of wings - as well as a very banged-up center float - behind the airframes. I don't have any info on the Navion; I was there on a Tuesday afternoon and the place was empty (reminding me of that old "Habit Field" story!).

Supposedly an honest to goodness L-17 that is being restored to fly.

Their stash is mostly on display or visible as you walk around inside and outside the shop area. If there is anything in particular you want to see ask someone in the shop area.
