Circa December '05/January '06 a rather nice film was made to promote the IWC Watch in the USA, starring John Malkovich. Two Chino based Spitfires SM832 and ML417 were locally repainted with fictitious Squadron marking AW-T & AW-H respectively.

These links show the actual 'promo' and the 'making of'.

Although some CGI was used the Spitfires were clearly repainted.

Although logging on to and registering for media accreditation on the IWC website does give access to some stills, they are of the 'arty farty' variety.

The writer is very keen to obtain images of both these aircraft in these markings. Can anybody help please?

Looks like Steve Hinton and John Maloney are having too much fun to me.

So they gathered some premium Warbirds, repainted them and made a film at a location we in the UK would consider the 'US Duxford' and not one comment or sighting.

Puzzling. :)

Here is the best of the limited IWC media stills which unfortunately shows little of the temporary markings.

MORE PLEASE.....

If more corporate sponsorship like this where to use & promote these birds more often :) And not only CGI.

Great little clip.

As far as keeping it quiet, many corporations don't want the "pre-publicity" that the rest of Hollywood is use to. They can be very secretive about their projects until they are unvieled. They want it to come as a surprise and don't want competitors to find out and perhaps "lift" the theme and do something similar before the project is released. It's is not uncommon for all involved in the production to sign a contract stating that will not discuss the project until it is officially unvieled.

I liked the peice, but I thought the digital images of the JU-52 flying were not up to par with the rest of the film.

Blue skies,
Jerry
