Tangerine was Dr. Burns Byrams old ship. He went down in a different P-51 if I remember correctly.

Wasn't "Boomer" lost in a haner fire quite a few years ago?

Thanks for posting pics of BOOMER. When I first moved to Fort Collins, this plane was based at a local airport. I talked to the owner, Max Hoffman, and he told me to go out and have a look. It was parked outside on the ramp along with STUMP JUMPER, and a P-40E. I have pics of them someplace. Anyway Max was lost in a Piper Cub crash several years ago. He was very friendly and always a pleasure to talk with.

Thanks, according to Mustangs/Mustangs he's been the same owner and pilot for the last 37 years.

I thought it went to France and is now back in the states. Martin can tell us!

When I saw that first photo it popped into my head that it was Tallichet's airplane. What do I know?

Killed while ferrying Lynn Florey's 44-74430 N52HA on June 5, 1978 in Mexico. Plane was formerly TG-REI.

Hoffman owned two P-51s. N6310T and the former E.D. Weiner racer N335J. He sold off his trusty old "Boomer" (6310T, seen in Martin's photos) which ended up with Gary Norton in Idaho. The plane then burned up with some other stuff around 1981, and to replace it Norton bought the other Hoffman 51 "Boomer II" (335J). This plane was then painted in a similar scheme to N6310T, but with Nortons initials. He sold the Mustang to Dan Baun in Ohio, who later sold it to Rene Bouverat in France. He in turn sold it back to the US (Fred Telling), and it is now with Glenn Wegman in Florida!

Yes and that particular Mustang is still a regular attendee at the convention all these years later.
