Anyone got any ideas? The resolution is bonk, but looks like a tail sitter possibly

My first guess would be a Cessna Caravan.

Looks like a tail tragger with a high wing and radial engine. I'd venture an early Fairchild FC, but if the image wasn't so clear, it might be easier. lol
Where's the location?

My guess would be Caravan aerial survey like this bird...

The Fuselage length is a dozen feet shorter than a Caravan , wings are shorter too.

It's on an airbase in Libya, which it shares with Mig-25's and other LAAF stuff,including Jastrebs and the like :D

26 58 50 N 14 28 15 E.

Did some more sleuthing and it turns out that Sander Geopysics, a Canadian based remote sensing company, deployed Caravan C-GSGL to Libya last year. Also, I used the neat measure thing under "Tools" in Google Earth and found that the aircraft's wingspan is the same as a Caravan, about 52'. The length is also the same, about 40', if you measure from the tip of the shadow of the nose to aft of the shadow of the horizontal stab. My guess is that the actual nose doesn't show in the satellite pic because it's painted dark.

In conclusion I would like to say I am a huge nerd with too much spare time. :lol:

The Caravan isn't old enough yet for me to recognize it!
I'm much better with planes that run on AvGas!!!!
