The Colling's Phantom will be there ? If so could someone possibly bag me a Taxi shot with the crew in the pit ?

The Collings F-4 won't be at Midland. She is in the hangar at Ellington. I believe she will be on static during Wings Over Houston.

Just to let those know whom I met in Midland, Grasshopper 26 arrived safely back here in San Antonio around 7:45 last night. The show was great and I was sorry not to see the rest.

7:45? In your picture post you said that you left at 2:00. Did you get bug strikes on your trailing edge?

Nope. Was doing 80mph indicated, but only 50 knots of groundspeed out of Midland. The winds were from 160 at 18KTS gusting to 22! Also had to make 2 fuel stops, one of which was annoying because I had to wait almost half an hour for the folks at Reagan Co. (E41) to go get a key to use the fuel pump. They were nice enough, but it put me behind schedule. Landed right as it got dark.

That would make sense except that we haven't had a Gulf storm all season. So I can guarantee that if that's why they are here then they have been wasting taxpayer money in prodigious amounts !!

Lets not talk about me! It was a good weekend and a great airshow.

The Cavanaugh Flight Museum has a fantastic collection of airplanes. They are a great bunch of folks who are always friendly and very generous. They brought three aircraft to the CAF show and it really added to the overall theme, especially the Korea and Vietnam displays.

The Sunday event combined the two "conflicts" and made for a busy show. There was a Huey, Cobra, and Bell 47 down low making passes and picking up downed/injured crewmen, The 0-2 passing above them, the OV-1 keeping watch above at 700', and two Skyraiders at 1,000' loitering until their strafing runs. It was quite a show. It was the first time for the CAF to include post WW2 demonstrations of this calibur and I think it went over really well.

Thanks to Doug, Steve, Curt, and Julian to help make this happen at the last minute and their hard work during the airshow.

She made about 30 min's worth of race track patterns in the pattern. Ralph asked if she wanted to do something else, like 8's....

Here's some pics from Airsho. Sorry, but the flying pics came out horrible. Haven't quite got the hang of my new camera yet.

Word around the "O" club was that the AD's stole the show. Great helos too. I think next year, I'll get a table in the "O" club for all the WIXers.
