Here are a few pictures from the trip. I had to leave at 2pm on Saturday to get back to San Antonio in time, so I didn't get as many good opportunities to shoot as I wanted. Most of the better pictures I took were on Friday. I spent most of Saturday morning talking to veterans and staying with the aircraft.

A beautiful flyby with three Pacific War fighter aircraft.

Image
A fun shot of the West Coast F-15 demo ship. He used a lot of afterburner during the demostration.

Image
Probably my best shot of the weekend with Gunfighter and the F-15 flying the Heritage Flight formation.

No need for a caption...

Image
I appreciate this aircraft because my Uncle Gerry was on the USS Franklin...

Image
Gotta love the ugly Mohawk.

Image
A nice Hawkeye.

Enjoyed meeting Gary with the FIFI crew. Hope they can get her up and flying soon! That was some great news this weekend.

The Liaison guys had a new deal this year. The CAF guys had us fly a "Dawn Patrol" around the cities of Midland and Odessa around 9am to kind of stir up interest in the show. There were 8 of us, flying about 1000 ft of seperation 1000 AGL above the cities. It was a blast.

My ride to Midland and back sitting on the ramp. Really enjoyed the trip, and the event. Hope to go back again.

Ryan

Edited to conserve my bandwidth, which was about to tank!

I have more pictures, but haven't decided which ones to resize and post.

Thanks for the pics, Ryan.

I'm curious: What was the "great news" you heard concerning the B-29?

I thought it was reported that the P-82 was headed for California? Did the Tom Cruise sponsorship not make it into fruition or is there still ownership issues?

Chad:
The P-82 is still in a work in progress. I can't report much, and any speculation out there really doesn't help much at all. Stay tuned.

Thanks for the info Bill. I will wait for the details to be released whenever that time comes. I was just a bit surprised to see the pic of it at Midland as it was "reported" to be on its way to SoCal some months back.

Ryan, your Uncle was on the Franklin?? So was mine, VFM-452 flying Corsairs. He was in the book Above & Beyond. He's Bo Little, one of the two driver who flew over the B-24 base inverted 8) In the Marines, his name was Raymond Little.

Actually my great-uncle. He was a radio room message runner, and was probably one of the only guys in the radio compartment to survive when they were hit.
