Looks like one of the "fighters" from the old "Battlestar Galactica" series to me.

You might be right about that Chad...it kind of fits the dimensions of one of those "fighters".

Wasn't this plane also in a Schwartzenegger movie from the 80's? Raw Deal I think it was? Where AHnold and the leading lady fly out to the bad guys island fortress to rescue his daughter?

Below are the posted the photos of the B-29 nose section, and the 2 PB4Y sections that I took on August 15, 1980, at Universal Studios.

We now know where the B-29 came from and went to,. That's what makes the WIX'ers so good!

The PB4Y parts still seem to be elusive, but if I had to guess, I'd say they were sections from the PB4Y used in the 1959 film, "The Lady Takes a Flyer".
They did some cockpit studio shots and perhaps these were sections of that PB4Y. The film was a Universal production, so it makes some sense. Also, I don't recall many films that used PB4Y's in them.

The nose turret would seem to be a valuable piece today.

The fuselage section below looks as though it still has the turret installed in the fuselage, minus the dome. Anybody recognize the canopies in the forground?
They look like F-86's but is that a P-51 canopy in the back?

This has been a fun thread. Does anybody have any other pics from studio backlots?
Blue skies,
Jerry O'Neill

On the tour in 1990, I saw the T-33 ans the X-2 mock up used in the pilot episode of "Quantum Leap".

I think that movie you're referring to with "Ahnold" in it was called "Commando". Typical 80's action flick with hundreds of bad guys running around shooting thousands of rounds and not hitting anything. At the same time "Ahnold's" shooting uzi's and AK-47's with 1,000 round magazines (because you never see him reload).

This thread has been in reference to the Universal Studios in California. I'm not sure the Florida one was even open in 1980. I know they have some stuff in Florida, but the old stuff from older films lying around the studio lot is just too cool, basically because they survived!
