XP-40Q Crash Photos?

Fri Sep 29, 2006 3:45 pm

I've seen reference on the board to it in several places, including it's demise in '46-47 at an air race.

However, I haven't seen any pictures of the aftermath. Just curious to see if anyone has a picture of that.

Also, I have been addicted to reading old threads here all week, this place is phenomenal. I'm glad to know this resource is here...

Been researching the post war air races for 20 years and have never seen any photos of the crash. Not much was left of the plane, but I obtained one account that the plane's Allison engine was planted more than 12 feet under the railway yard when is hit the ground. As a result it was never recovered.

I have seen a picture of the burning railroad siding in some magazine or book. Maybe an Air claasics qaurterly from around '74? I'll work on remembering it.
