The 1:1 model of a Red Baron Stearman:
2 members of the Flying Horsemen- Walt Fricke and Gary Applebaum flew in for the preverbial $300 bratwurst and are coming back for pancakes tomorrow:
Some more of what we are expecting in the morning:
B-25 Miss Mitchell

When did the P-40 show up? Argh!
Well, my day was going good yesterday, but because I had my two smallest with me ( they begged and begged to go ) it lasted only until about oh 12:30 - 1:00 pm.
IT was raining here today, so I didnt bother going down there.

The P-40 was only on the field for a short time in the afternoon.
It was pretty much a washout today. Three members of T-6 Thunder did some formation passes through the soup.
Paul Ehlan had his award winning Mustang on the field all day too.
Thanks Paul

Thanks for the photos, guys.
Gerry Beck was perpetually surrounded by tire kickers at OSH, so I never bothered to ask the question: Has he let on what colors the Mustang will eventually carry(once the bright green movie paint wears off)?

Wings of the North had bad luck with the weather this year. The switch from July to September increased the odds of bizarro weather and Mother Nature didn't pull any punches.
The sun attempted to break through the clouds on Saturday during the missing man formation, but other than that, it was cold, cloudy, windy, and (on Sunday) rainy...elements least friendly to airshows.
The missing man...

Nice pictures everybody.
Paul I was at the Red Tail booth and I saw you walk by. I didn't want to bother you since you obviously had your hands full with a somewhat uncooperative, albeit happy son at the time!
In spite of the bad weather I think everybody managed to have a decent time. I know the climax of any open house is to see the airplanes fly but even without that, the WOTN show has sooooo much to offer. That crew has done a great job getting veterans and it has really become one the shows strongest assets. My hat is off to Bob Jasperson, Greg Kaminski, Greg Benson and the rest of the hard working volunteers that bust their butts putting that program together.
Their BT-15 project is coming along as well. She's a lot farther than it was last year. It sounds like they are at a cross-roads right now and are deciding whether or not to make it a full blown restoration or just make it a good decent looking flyer. Whatever they decide they will have fun along the way!
That I am aware of there was only one mechanical casualty over the weekend. Walt Frikke's T-28 blew a jug. Bummer....that made his "hundred dollar hamburger" a lot more expensive!
The last time I talked to Gerry about his plans for painting the A model, the color scheme was going to be flat OD, he hadn't made any decision on specific markings at that point. We'll know by next spring! I will say he want's it to have that lived in look and not that of some squeaky clean museum piece! Cool! He drew the short straw and is off to Reno tomorrow in Ron Fagens P-40 (Rats, huh?) and will be back to ferry the A home in a week or so.

LOL! Yes, my son was getting hungry and wanted every airplane toy they had there. Sorry I missed the opportunity to speak with you. Maybe next year!
