Camarillo Air Show this weekend (Aug 28-29) anybody going?

Thu Aug 26, 2004 5:08 am

Just checked out the website http://www.camarilloairshow.com for this show and it sounds worth the drive. I'm so out of it I realized the Hawthorne show was on two weeks ago when 2 T-28's flew overhead after it was over...and I also got to see POF's B-25 on the way home the Monday after. It's time to get to another airshow.

I'll be there in spirit, but not in person (kind of a long trip from RI)!

However, I spoke with John Collver the other day and he's planning on flying his show in the T-6.

During his performance, please take a moment to remember our friends Jen and John who were lost last weekend in the mid-air over Zuma beach. Jen used to help crew for John Collver at various airshows. I had the pleasure of working with her at the 1999 Mirimar airshow. They will be greatly missed.

i just flew back last nite home to philly, but i got up to the airport on thursday. went to the caf musuem, nice little collection they have there. they are working on a b-25 and have an original zero they are trying to make airworthy again too. as for the airshow, the t-6 'wardog' came in, they let him do a few passes with smoke on. a b-25, 'executive sweet' was there along with a nicely polished p-51, no markings what so ever. they both went up, did a few passes, i found out later thursday was the media day.

the best part though, was after it was all said and done, i went with my girlfriend to the outlet stores just over the road (i get air museum, she gets shopping, not a bad trade!) as she's shopping, i hear that unmistakeable drone, and i head out of the store, and theres the mustang and the mitchell in formation. they did a few passes and then landed. that is my favorite shopping area of all time now! let us know how the show was, i was debating on weither or not to change my flight to see it, but i didn't.

Went to dinner at the 94th Aero Squadron restaurant in Van Nuys today and saw the B-25 landing after its return from the show. The food was awful and the displays outside the restaurant are very deteriorated.
